Welcome to Year 5!

The children have settled in amazingly, making a fantastic effort to always show that they are 'Ready, Respectful and Safe.'

I hope that we all have a fantastic year together and form a safe, happy and caring class, who make great progress with our learning.

Please speak to me after school or email Miss Whittingham if you have any questions, concerns or if you have any positive feedback.

Spelling

We will be using the Essential Spellings approach, looking at spelling patterns and rules and practising how to apply these.

Homework

Homework will be handed out on a Friday. Guided Reading MUST be returned on Monday. The remainder of the homework is due on Tuesday. It is really important that children make an effort to complete homework.

Homework consists of a weekly Guided Reading text and either a piece of Maths or English. Homework will always be relevant to what we have been looking at that week and will support the children's learning as we move through the topic.

Art - Roy Lichtenstein.

This term, the children are learning about POP art and complementary colours. We have some really keen artists in the class, they are all welcome to share any work they have created outside of school.

PE

Please note that our PE lessons this term will be on a Wednesday and Thursday. Children are expected to come to school in their correct PE kit.

Celebrating success

As a class, we have all decided that it is so important to celebrate every single success, no matter the size. Therefore, we are making a big effort to discuss our successes and achievements every Friday morning after the register. Please encourage your child to share their successes that are important to them with the class!
