Mr Evens's Class

WELCOME TO YEAR 5 AND MR EVENS' CLASS!

Term 5... SUMMER TIME!

Finally, we have reached the summer term! Hopefully, the cold weather will be a distant memory and we will look forward to the Great British summer! I hope the children have enjoyed their Easter break (hopefully not too many Easter eggs eaten!) which was deserved. However, we have bigger challenges ahead and need to push on to achieve our goals.

I promise that I will always give 100% to ensure that every child makes progress but most importantly enjoy coming into my classroom. At the same time, I expect children to also give their all and to adhere to the school rules and charter, which we have created and signed. A copy of the charter can be seen in the attachments.

There's so much going on this term already, including House Matches, PA Fun Run, Tour D'Almondsbury and Sports Day! Please check regularly at the 'Dates for your Diary' section of this page for updates.

Our teaching assistant is Mrs. Sarah Bailey.

If you have any questions or issues, I am ususally available after school Alternatively, you can email me on Gavin.Evens@almondsburyprimary.co.uk

Kind regards,

Gavin Evens

HOMEWORK

In Year 5, homework is given out each Friday. This will alternate between English and maths. This is to start to nurture children towards secondary school life and to start to gain independence.

The expectation is to give the homework a go and to hand it in by the deadline date. The homework set will not be anything that will take most of the children's spare time and will be aimed to the children's needs and what is covered in class.

Furthermore, reading records and spelling letters have been given out. I am not expecting children to read and learn their spellings for hours a day. However, reading learning spellings little and often would be beneficial as it makes a huge difference to their writing. Please ensure that any reading is recorded in their reading records.

Thank you for your support.
