Welcome to Reception 2 at Almondsbury Primary School.

Our Class Teacher is Mrs Leonard and

our Teaching Assistant is Mrs Clarke

      

Term 6 - .

The Christian Value this term is Courage. 

                  

We will be reading stories such as 'The Huge Bag of Worries', 'Can't you Sleep Little Bear?', 'The Gruffalo,' I Don't Want to Go.'and 'The Mousehole Cat' to explore being brave and courageous. We will also be linking this value to the children's transition to Year 1.

 

We are starting Term 6 with a whole school STEM Week (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths), when we will all be thinking about  'Greener Futures'. 

Reception will be recycling and reusing different materials, using the story book 'Who Swallowed Stanley' as our stimuli

 

Our Topic for the rest of this term is 'Splash!' We will be learning about under the sea, at the seaside and pirates.

Sports Week

In the final week of term 5, we had a very busy week with completing the running race, egg and spoon race, sack race and bean bag race during sports day on Tuesday. Riding you bikes and scooters during the Tour de Almondsbury on Thursday morning and finally on Thursday afternoon completing in our house teams in the house matches of Boccia

     

        

 

 

Term 5- Our topic has been “In the Garden”

We have been learning about plants and mini beasts.

We have planted Sun flowers, cress seeds and potatoes and observed how they grow and learnt how to take care of plants.

We have learnt about a caterpillar’s life cycles and watched caterpillars turn into butterflies.

We enjoyed our Wow day, when we came to school dressed in our gardening clothes. We visited the Garden centre, where we planted sun flower seeds, explored the garden while finding all the items on the shopping lists and even had a turn scanning the prices at the till.

            

    

Easter Week –

In the final week of term 4, we have been learning about the Christian festival of Easter.

We have learnt about the Easter traditions of eating hot cross buns, making a flower cross to take to church, making chocolate Easter eggs and making Easter cards.  We acted out Jesus riding into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday and made palm leaves to wave. We create Easter gardens of the Jesus' tomb. We have learnt about the importance of the cross to Christians.

We visited St Mary’s Church to participate in the Easter Trail

      

       

Term 4- Our Topic has been – Amazing Animals

We have learnt about pets, farm animals, wild animals and dinosaurs.

We visited The Wild Place, where we listened to a story about a Lion, made nature crown and looked at all the animals.

    

           

Term 3- Our topic has been “Once Upon A Time”

We have been learning about a different fairy tale each week. We have looked at The Three Little Pigs, Goldilocks and the 3 Bears, Little Red Riding Hood, frozen and Jack and the Bean Stalk.

We have enjoyed cooking and made jam tarts, pancakes and porridge.

We came to school dressed up as fairy tale characters for our Wow day, when we took part in a workshop based on the story The Jolly Postman. The children listened to the story and completed a variety of problem solving tasks linked to the different fairy tales.

  

       

 

 

Term 1 :-  our topic is ‘All About Me’. We will be getting to know each other, our families and finding out about our 5 senses
