Forest School
🌿 Forest School at Almondsbury Primary School
At Almondsbury Primary School, we are proud to offer a thriving Forest School programme that provides our children with regular opportunities to connect with nature, develop new skills, and grow in confidence through hands-on outdoor learning.
Forest School is a unique and inspiring approach to learning that takes place in our beautiful natural surroundings. It encourages children to explore, discover, and take supported risks in a safe and nurturing environment. Our sessions are child-led, allowing pupils to follow their interests, work at their own pace, and develop resilience, creativity, and independence.
Through activities such as den building, fire lighting, tool use, nature crafts, and wildlife exploration, children learn about the world around them while building essential life skills such as teamwork, problem-solving, and perseverance.
All sessions are led by our qualified Forest School Leaders Mrs McAulay and Mrs Swann. The sessions are fully risk-assessed to ensure safety and enjoyment for all.
We believe that outdoor learning is not just beneficial — it is essential. Forest School complements our curriculum and supports the emotional wellbeing and holistic development of every child.
Whether it’s the excitement of spotting wildlife, the pride in building a shelter, relaxing in the hammock, or the calm of sitting around a campfire, Forest School provides unforgettable experiences that stay with children for life.
