Bristol Harbourside and M Shed Trip 02.10.25

ear 4 River Avon Adventure!

What a fantastic day Year 3 and 4 had exploring Bristol’s beautiful harbour and learning all about rivers! Our trip began with a boat journey along the River Avon, where we saw the city from a whole new perspective. The children loved spotting familiar landmarks and noticing how the river connects different parts of Bristol.

Next, we stopped at the M Shed, where we discovered more about the city’s rich history and how the river has shaped its development over time. The exhibits helped us understand just how important the Avon has been for trade, transport, and industry.

Afterwards, we enjoyed a walk along the harbourside, soaking up the sights and sounds of the busy waterfront. A highlight of the day was meeting a kind man working in the boatyard, who took the time to give us a mini talk about his work. He explained how he was sanding and repairing the bottom of a boat, showing the children the tools and techniques he uses to keep the boats in great condition.

It was a fab day out — full of fresh air, curiosity, and hands-on learning. What a brilliant way to kick off our rivers topic this term!
