Miss Whittingham's Class
Welcome to Year 5!
Hello and a very warm welcome to our Year 5 class page! I hope that we have a fantastic year together and form a safe, happy and caring class, who make great progress with our learning.
Year 5 is a time of fantastic growth, where children become more independent, confident and curious about the world around them. This year, we’ll be diving into exciting topics, exploring new skills and working together to make brilliant memories along the way.
Please speak to me after school or contact me via email if you have any questions, concerns or if you have any positive feedback.

Homework
Homework will be handed out on Friday. This will consist of either a Guided Reading text or an additional piece of Maths or English work. Homework MUST be returned on Tuesday. It is really important that children make an effort to complete homework.
Reading
This term, we will be reading a new text called 'Who Let The Gods Out' - the narrative is about a boy called Elliot who is trying to look after his mum while keeping up with school. When he accidentally lets out a dangerous ancient spirit, he gets help from the Greek gods – who are funny, a bit clumsy, and not as powerful as they used to be. Together, they go on an exciting adventure to try and save the world, while Elliot learns about bravery, friendship, and never giving up.

PE & Forest School
Our Forest School day is Wednesday and our PE day is Thursday. All children should come to school in their PE kit and must also bring a drink. It is recommended that children also bring their coat/waterproof clothing for Forest School.
