Welcome to the Year 2 Page!

Here you will be able to find key information about our class this year.

Our PE days this year will be Tuesday and Thursday.

Our Book Changing day is Wednesday. Please can the children bring in their bookbags with their school reading books and reading records on this day.

We go to the Library on Tuesdays where the children can pick a library book to bring home. Please ensure these are kept safe and returned when finished. Children are allowed to take out 2 library books at a time.

We will do Maths Attack every Friday. This is a sheet with different maths questions on that the children have a go at and then bring home to practise. All the children will do the same sheet for 3 weeks in a row before moving onto the next level. Their challenge is to improve their accuracy over the 3 weeks spent on each level.

Forest School this year will be in Term 2 and Term 5.

 

Term 1 and 2 information

ENGLISH

Our first unit of writing this term will be based on 'Paddington'. We will be linking this to our main topic about London.

 

READING BOOKS

The children will only be required to bring their book bags in on Wednesdays. This should include their Reading Record and school reading books, these will be changed and sent home the same day. 

PHONICS

We follow the Essential Letters and Sounds programme. We will be recapping the letter and sound patterns that the children learnt last year as well as introducing them to new spelling patterns in preparation for Key Stage 2. 

MATHS

We are starting off this term by looking at Place Value and the composition of numbers up to 100. After this we will start our unit on Addition and Subtraction.

 

TOPIC

This term our topic is 'Let's Explore London'. You can see our Knowledge Organiser at the bottom of the page.

 

Our theme in Collective Worship is 'Generosity'. Our British Value is 'Tolerance'.
