E-Safety
Here at Almondsbury, we teach the children about the importance of staying safe online so that they can feel confident of what actions to take should any such situation arise when on the Internet. We believe it is vital that the children learn and develop these skills as they move through the school in preparation for later life. The pupils have termly lessons based around E-Safety in order to keep them well-informed of how to stay safe online. In school, we follow SMART rules when online and these can be accessed here

Other websites which have information about how to stay safe online can be found here:

All computers in school are linked to our SWGFL Filtering and Monitoring system managed for the school by South Gloucestershire IT department. The filtering and monitoring system works to block inappropriate websites and usage by pupils and adults. Any one who attempts to use inappropriate sites are flagged to the Executive Headteacher and the Head of School (also IT leader). The usage is then investigated and any appropriate action taken. This could be asking pupils and staff to choose a different word to search (often linked to school based topics) or discussions around IT equipment usage and non usage as a result of a breach which is unacceptable. If this is the case, staff will speak to the pupil and parents.
We have also subscribed to the e-safety monthly newsletter from Knowsley to update parents regularly to enable them to support their children at home with e-safety online issues. Please see the links below for the newsletters.
