Welcome to Year 5!

The children have settled in amazingly, making a fantastic effort to always show that they are 'Ready, Respectful and Safe.'

I hope that we all have a fantastic year together and form a safe, happy and caring class, who make great progress with our learning.

Please speak to me after school or email Miss Whittingham if you have any questions, concerns or if you have any positive feedback.

We will be using the Essential Spellings approach, looking at spelling patterns and rules and practising how to apply these.

Homework will be handed out on a Friday and will be due on the following Tuesday. It is really important that children make an effort to complete homework.

Homework consists of a weekly Guided Reading text and either a piece of Maths or English. Homework will always be relevant to what we have been looking at that week and will support the children's learning as we move through the topic.

Art Homework - we are currently studying a Japanese sculptor in our unit of work this term. The children are in the process of planning a piece of work that is either a sculpture or a drawing. We are hoping to create our final piece in our art lesson during the last week of term. Children have been advised to begin collecting their desired recycled materials ready for their project in 2 weeks time (W/B 5/02/24)

Please note that our PE lessons this term will be on a Monday and Thursday. Children are expected to come to school in their PE kit.

Celebrating success

As a class, we have all decided that it is so important to celebrate every single success, no matter the size. Therefore, we are making a big effort to discuss our successes and achievements every Friday morning after the register. Please encourage your child to share their successes that are important to them with the class!
