Term 4 Information

It's great to be back for our fourth term in Year 1.

Our WOW DAY will be on FRIDAY 4TH MARCH

Timings

Our class will continue to follow these times:

Start of day: 8.55am (entering through the cloakroom door in the Key Stage 1 playground)

End of the day: 3:30pm (leaving also, through the cloakroom door in the Key Stage 1 playground)

PE

Our class PE days will continue to be on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Please ensure your child comes to school in their PE kit on those days.  

FOREST SKILLS

Forest Skills wil take place every Tuesday afternoon, please ensure your child comes to school in their Forest Skills clothes on this day in term 6.

READING BOOKS

The children will only be required to bring their book bags in on Mondays. This should include their Reading Record and school reading books. These will be changed and sent home the same day. All school reading books will be wiped down and left for 72 hours before another child can take them home. Due to this, we will be limiting the number of books children take home to 3 each week

PHONICS

We will be continuing to cover the Y1 Curriculum and sound patterns. Please see the attached tab for our phonic lists and homework sheets, we will have having a phonic spelling test every fortnight on a Friday.

ENGLISH

We will be continuing to read the wonderful book 'How to catch a star' by Oliver Jeffers, this is to enhance the learning of our topic 'Explorers'.

MATHS

Our first unit this term is Addition and Subtraction.  This will be followed by a unit on Place Value.

TOPIC

We will be starting an exciting new topic this term, 'Explorers'. 

SCIENCE

This term our theme is 'Everyday Materials'. This includes learning about different types of materials, what materials objects are made from and which materials are best to use for different purposes.

Our Collective Worship theme for this term is 'Friendship' and our British Value is 'Tolerance'.

Our Heartsmart focus is 'Fake is a mistake'.
